I feel like this quote is important because it shows that you can look like yourself on the outside and be a completely unlike yourself on the inside. It also makes you think that you should check in on people, because they could be the happiest person ever and still not feel like themselves. Sometimes you think about what you used to be like and it feels like you are a completely different person.
